FremantleMedia to Launch Live Event Based on C4’s Property Ladder

LONDON, June 27: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has
reached a deal with Media 10 to launch Property Ladder Live, a three-day consumer event based on Property
Ladder
, the popular Channel 4 series from
talkbackTHAMES.

FME’s deal with Media 10 grants them rights to create and
manage Property Ladder Live, a live
consumer event specifically targeting the property development market,
which is set to launch at the NEC
Birmingham in October. The event aims to appeal to both those who are fans of
the show as well as attract a new audience of individuals who are keen to add
value to their property by enhancing its condition. Featuring the show’s host
Sarah Beeny, the exhibition will enable consumers to interact with experts,
witness live demonstrations and meet with suppliers. FME has previously worked
with 10 Media on the Grand Designs Live event, which returns to the NEC for the second year running. Grand
Designs Live
was based on the Channel 4
series Grand Designs, also
produced by talkbackTHAMES.

Property Ladder is a hands-on, no-nonsense advice show for
novice developers who want to earn serious money from bricks and mortar.
The sixth season of the
series on Channel 4 continues to be a success, attracting audiences up to 3.4
million viewers and gaining shares in excess of 15 percent.

In a separate agreement, FME has also licensed rights to
Tigerprint to develop a Property Ladder board
game for launch exclusively in Marks & Spencer stores nationwide from
October, coinciding with the live event. The aim of the game is to renovate three houses and
the player must determine whether they should start with the most expensive
house or the least by landing on the development squares and paying for each of
the renovations one at a time. The person who fully develops each house
successfully, sells them on and makes the most money, wins.

Dominic Burns, the senior VP of licensing for the U.K. at
FME, commented: “We have enjoyed tremendous success internationally in the live
events space with Grand Designs Live in
the U.K. and The Price Is Right Live
and Family Feud Live in the U.S.
We are keen to create relevant live events around our brands, but it must be
done with care so that the public’s experiences match their expectations as
viewers. Our collaboration with Media 10 on Grand Designs Live has been a huge success and we look forward to
emulating that success with a different take on the property business with Property
Ladder Live
.”
