FremantleMedia Strikes Format Deals on Let’s Dance

LONDON: FremantleMedia has secured a number of new format commissions for Whizz Kid Entertainment’s Let’s Dance.

The series was originally commissioned by BBC One. New deals include RTL4 in Holland, Sat.1 in Germany, Channel Russia, Indosiar of Indonesia, TVJoj of Slovakia and TV4 of Sweden. The show watches as well-known celebrities pay homage to some of the world’s most iconic dance routines in front of a live audience. Viewers’ votes move stars onto the next level, securing a place in the finale.

Malcolm Gerrie, the CEO of Whizz Kid Entertainment, said: “Let’s Dance appeals to audiences of all ages—it brings out the best in its celebrity participants, who really have fun and enjoy performing the most weird and wonderful routines. It’s a great example of a format that is transferrable around the world and we are delighted with the success it has had so far.”

Rob Clark, the president of worldwide entertainment for FremantleMedia, added: “Let’s Dance is an upbeat, energetic and hugely entertaining format that has been a huge hit with the stars it features and the audiences who tune in to watch them perform. We’re very pleased to be working with Whizz Kid Entertainment on Let’s Dance, and we look forward to continuing to roll out this fantastic show through FremantleMedia’s global network of production companies.”
