FremantleMedia Inks Sony Latin American Deal

LONDON, December 15: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has
licensed more than 100 hours of programming to Sony Entertainment Television
(SET) for broadcast across Latin America, including Brazil and the Caribbean.

Included in the sale is Falcon Beach, the family drama commissioned by Global Television in
Canada and ABC Family in the U.S. that has been licensed to almost 30
territories. The agreement covers two seasons of the show, plus the two-hour
pilot. The Latin American broadcaster also scooped up the ABC series American
Inventor
, a production of Simon Cowell’s
Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America. Further, SET opted for three
comedies: The IT Crowd (6×30)
from the U.K.; Comedy Inc. from
Australia’s Crackerjack; and the Comedy Central game show Distraction. In a separate agreement, Sony has also picked up
season six of American Idol.
