FremantleMedia Inks Deal for American Idol Apparel Line

LOS ANGELES, July 9: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has
reached a licensing agreement with the apparel company Lyric Jeans for the
creation of a new American Idol-branded
apparel line for department stores and mid-tier and mass-market retailers.

The initial American Idol collection from Lyric Jeans will focus on the contemporary juniors and
girls market before expanding into other areas, such as children’s wear. Lyric
Jeans is a music-driven apparel company that incorporates lyrical content on
jeans, denim wear and accessories. Lyric Jeans has deals in place with music
publishing companies such as Warner Chappell, EMI, Universal, Sony/ATV and BMG,
and has also secured the rights to utilize lyrics made famous by The Beatles,
Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, The Bee Gees, Rod Stewart and
Steppenwolf, among others.

Nora Wong, the manager of consumer
licensing for FremantleMedia’s North America team, commented: “Lyric Jeans has
taken a unique approach in personalizing musical expression through fashion.
Lending the American Idol name to this
apparel line is a fantastic extension for both brands and gets to the heart of
what the American Idol brand is all
about.”
