France 3 Picks Up Live-Action Tween Series

LONDON/PARIS, January 31: French terrestrial
network France 3 has acquired the hit live-action tween comedy series Genie
in the House
, which was produced by Moi j’aime la television and Helion Pictures for
Nickelodeon UK and France’s Canal J.

France 3 has picked up the first and second seasons of Genie in the
House
, totalling 52 episodes. AB Distribution, which holds worldwide rights
to the show, will offer up the series at this year’s MIPTV. Worldwide DVD rights for the series are
also available through Anglo-French distributor Happy Audience.

Genie in the House has sold into more than 80 territories
worldwide. The series has been licensed to RTBF in Belgium; SIC in Portugal,
Antena 3 in Spain; MNet Africa, CTC Network for Russia and CIS as well as
Italy, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Since MIPCOM last year, AB Distribution
has already secured several new deals for the series, including Italia Film for
the Middle East, RTM Morocco, Kanal1 Turkey and BNT Bulgaria.

Genie in the House features
two girls named Sophie and Emma, who uncover an old lamp in the attic of a new
house that they have moved into with their widower father. When Emma rubs the
lamp, a teenage genie named Adil appears, who eventually leads the two girls
into absurd and hilarious situations. The series was created by Phil Ox from
Moi j’aime la télévision, Isabelle Dubernet, Eric Fuhrer and Helion Pictures’
Steven Bawol.
