France 24 Notches Up 3.8 Million Visitors

PARIS,
February 6: France24.com, the online portal of the French international
news channel France 24, attracted 3.8
million unique visitors in December 2007, with the U.S. representing the
largest share of the traffic.

According to NetRatings
Nielsen/Médiamétrie, France24.com drew 1,352,000
unique visitors from the U.S. in December, a rise of more than 44 percent. The
website also fared well in Italy with 540,000 unique visitors, a jump of more
than 57 percent. And in France, the number of unique visitors also increased
more than 10 percent to 748,000.

As measured by
Nielsen/Médiamétrie, traffic to France24.com in December was 17 times greater
than on the Al Jazeera website and 45 times greater than on the Euronews
website. Eighty percent of France24.com’s visitors are from outside of France,
with France24.com remaining the third
most popular website in the U.K. and the U.S. after BBC News and CNN. France24.com
is still the leading international news website in France, Germany, Italy and
Spain.

Earlier today, France 24
featured four hours of live coverage of the U.S. election results from Super
Tuesday, including candidates’ speeches, analysis and special reports, and will
provide additional coverage throughout the day.

American
politics pundits will comment on the results from the U.S. as well as from
France 24’s studios in Paris. On the channel’s website France24.com, Mathieu
Lerondeau, author of the blog USandus (US and us), will host
an interactive “Live Blogging
session.

Throughout
the day, the channel will provide additional coverage in French, English and
Arabic, including exclusive reports from various U.S. states and a review of
the major lessons that can be drawn from the results of Super Tuesday.

France
24 is also offering up USA 2008 Campaign Chronicles, which is produced in the U.S. and features
exclusive reports and a complete perspective of the American primary elections.
Additionally, the program can be accessed via the channel’s website, which will
provide visitors with live streaming of the electoral morning in three
languages. In a special dossier produced by France 24’s Internet editorial
team, visitors will be able to view video reports with all the analysis and
comments from correspondents.
