FME Secures Brand Rep Deal with Discovery

LONDON: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has signed a deal to represent a number of brands from Discovery Communications, including American Chopper and Miami Ink, across the U.K. and parts of Europe.

The two already have a deal such as this in North America. Brands covered include American Chopper, Miami Ink and LA Ink, as well as Deadliest Catch, which FME will represent across parts of Europe.

FME will be looking for licensing partners across parts of Europe and in the U.K. in a variety of categories, including consumer products and merchandise, live events, publishing, sponsorship and promotion and interactive.

“The Discovery brands are distinctly unique, offering licensees a breadth of opportunities, and we’re looking forward to growing the licensing program so fans can engage with these shows beyond the TV screen,” said Mark Newton, the executive VP of licensing for EMEA at FME. “One of our strengths is that our network of global licensing experts has already worked with Discovery in America, so FME has a built-in and extensive knowledge of their appeal for fans already.”

“Entertainment properties achieve a strong fan base, many of whom want to engage with the property through owning and wearing associated products, added Jo Edwards, the VP of international consumer products at Discovery Enterprises International. “Discovery continues to develop innovative products that encourage people to pursue their interests and passions while also extending the brand experience beyond the television screen.”
