CANNES: Sarah Jessica Parker is at MIPCOM to launch the new show Work of Art: The Next Great Artist with FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME).

Magical Elves, the team behind the hits Top Chef and Project Runway, produces the series alongside Parker and Alison Benson of Pretty Matches and Eli Holzman. The 10×1-hour entertainment series already aired in the U.S. on Bravo, with 14 aspiring contemporary artists competing for a solo show and cash prize. A presale has already been confirmed by FME with Turner Broadcasting Systems Latin America to air the U.S. series in early 2011.

David Ellender, the global CEO of FME, commented, “Magical Elves are established hit makers and we’re looking forward to Work of Art being as popular with global audiences as Project Runway is. Having Sarah Jessica Parker and Alison Benson with us in Cannes has been fantastic and shows a real commitment to supporting the show and delivering a great program to our buyers.”

Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, behind Magical Elves, added, “Work of Art Work of Art is unique in that it brings the colorful, and previously untapped, world of contemporary art to life with a compelling entertainment format. The show attracts a mass audience in the US and we believe it will have great global appeal. We couldn’t ask for a better partner than FME to distribute Work of Art—their network and relationships with broadcasters around the world speak for themselves.”

Sarah Jessica Parker said, “I’m thrilled that Work of Art now has the opportunity to expand to a global audience, with hopes that it will engage, entertain and inspire the viewer through the discovery of a new generation of international artists.”
