LONDON: BBC Worldwide has signed up CP International Clothing as the first external licensee for the property dirtgirlworld.

The deal is for a line of high-end children’s daywear produced for the brand. CP International will launch a range of 100-percent organic apparel for boys and girls, including T-shirts, dresses and dungarees. The initial launch is planned for spring/summer 2011, with plans to explore further opportunities later in the year.

The musical show, aimed at 3- to 7-year-olds, explores the natural world and encourages the audience to get outside and "get grubby." It combines animation with live action, and uses photomontage and illustration. The series launched on CBeebies in November 2009.

Cassie Allen, apparel licensing manager for BBC Worldwide, said: “This is significant step in a promising future for dirtgirlworld. With the show’s great success on CBeebies, and its unique visual appeal and green values, it’s been well established that the brand is open for innovative and exciting licensing partnerships. It’s fantastic that CP International are providing 100-percent organic product, and we’re continuing to explore other eco-conscious licensing opportunities for the show.”
