Ex-TLC Exec Appointed CEO of UKTV

LONDON, February 27: UKTV shareholders BBC Worldwide and
Virgin Media Television have appointed David Abraham, most recently the head of
TLC in the U.S., as CEO of UKTV, effective in mid-April and reporting to the
UKTV Board.

In his new role as CEO, Abraham will be responsible for
driving the profitable growth and development of UKTV and building a strong
team capable of meeting the challenges associated with the company’s growth
strategy. He will also create and enhance shareholder value, defining a clear
strategic path for the business and determining opportunities for the further
expansion of UKTV and lead the execution of such initiatives.

Previously, Abraham served as EVP and GM of TLC and
Discovery Home, where he was responsible for overseeing all content investment
strategy and execution. Since joining TLC in April 2005, Abraham led a rapid
turnaround project that relaunched the channel, resulting in eleven consecutive
months of year-on–year share gains to date. Prior to joining TLC, Abraham
was head of networks and marketing at Discovery Europe and was U.K. GM after
Discovery’s operation in Europe was split in two.

Malcolm Wall, the CEO of content at Virgin Media, noted,
“David has outstanding strategic and leadership skills. His strong relationship
building ability, sense of purpose and direction, will be invaluable in this
high profile role. His appointment represents a major opportunity to move an
already very successful organization through the next phase of its development
and growth.”

Darren Childs, the MD of BBC Global Channels at BBC
Worldwide, added, “David has proved himself on both sides of the Atlantic as a
rare executive who can balance a commercial agenda, covering both traditional
and future media, with editorial and brand excellence.”
