CULVER CITY/CANNES: Local-language versions of the hit U.S. series Everybody Loves Raymond have been sold by Sony Pictures Television (SPT) into Israel and Poland.

SPT previously sold the show to Russia, where it is known as The Voronins. With these new deals, TVN in Poland is to receive 30 episodes, while Reshet in Israel has a 33-episode order. SPT will produce both versions.

“We’re thrilled to extend our successful track record of producing quality local language scripted programs with the universally-themed and universally funny Everybody Loves Raymond,” said Jeff Lerner, the senior VP of international scripted development and production at SPT.  “With the expertise of our producers and the talented local producers joining forces, we’re certain viewers in Poland and Israel will soon love Raymond as much as we do!”

“We fell in love with Raymond as Everybody did! After a great experience with SPT on The Nanny, we’re looking forward to another successful show,” added Dariusz Gąsiorowski, the head of TVN’s drama and feature production department. “The original version, with its universal humor and memorable characters, offers us the unique opportunity to create an amazing show. We hope that our viewers will have as much fun watching it as we will while adapting it, preparing the production and being in the process."

“We are very excited to be selected by Sony Pictures Television to produce and broadcast Everybody Loves Raymond in Israel,” commented Ilan de Vries, the VP content for Reshet channel 2 in Israel. “This is the first time in the history of Israeli television that such a successful program of this magnitude will be launched. We are sure that everybody in Israel will love the show.”
