European Deals for Gurin Format

LOS ANGELES: Money Maze, a game-show format from The Gurin Company, has secured new deals in Europe, including in France, where it is in development for TF1 by Coyote.

A revival of the 1970s U.S. part-trivia, part-obstacle-course couples competition, Money Maze, Gurin says, "is a classic, high-energy game show that is primed to travel the globe. It’s a format that can easily be tailored to specific cultures and climates with country-specific trivia and has a very visual, exciting physical element that translates to all audiences.”

Endemol Italia will be handling distribution of Money Maze in Italy. Orsetta Violante Balsamo, the head of acquisitions for Endemol Italia, commented: "Money Maze represents an excellent mix of general knowledge questions and action. The idea of revamping this 1970s ABC show is extremely exciting for us and has attracted many major European countries. What we hope now is that broadcasters will share our same enthusiasm.”

The Gurin Company also is distributing the stunt-laden, product-pricing game show format Shop ‘Til You Drop, which was recently licensed to Belgium, Greece, Holland and Turkey. It has also scored format deals in Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Holland and Belgium for the docu-entertainment series First & Last, based on the pilot produced for TNT.
