European Cable Industry Reports 2006 Gains

AMSTERDAM, February 6: Cable revenues in Europe rose 12
percent to 18.8 billion euros in 2006, according to a report presented today at
Cable Europe, the European Cable Communications Association’s annual
conference.

According to the research, European cable revenues doubled
from 9.4 billion euros in 2000 to 18.8 billion euros in 2006. The report also
cited the gains made by digital cable, with subscribers reaching 11 million
last year, a 53-percent increase on 2005. Cable telephony subscribers showed a
21.6 percent year-on-year gain to end 2006 with 10 million. Broadband Internet
subscribers were up 26 percent to 13 million. Broadband Internet and telephony
services account for more than one third of all European cable revenues.
