ESS Renews Rights for Golf Tournament

SINGAPORE,
March 7: ESPN STAR Sports has secured
the broadcast rights in Asia for the American golf tournament, The Masters,
from 2008 to 2010.

ESPN STAR Sports has aired
The Masters across Asia since 2003. This new deal will see the network bring
“live” coverage of all four days of the tournament from the grounds of the
Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

As
in previous years, ESPN STAR Sports will support the “live” coverage of The
Masters with comprehensive presentation packages that include half-hour daily
highlights and “live” on-ground reports in English and in Mandarin.

Manu Sawhney, the managing
director of ESPN STAR Sports, said: “For players and fans alike, The Masters
represents a hallowed rite of passage with its rich tradition and indelible
imagery. We are pleased to be able to continue bringing one of golf’s biggest
tournaments to our viewers with this
multi-year renewal.”

This
most recent multi-year acquisition is part of ESPN STAR Sports’ portfolio of
major golf championship properties, including The Open Championship and
The US Open. ESPN STAR Sports has also secured multi-year rights to the PGA
Grand Slam of Golf, Asian Tour and the PGA Euro Pro Tour, Mauritius Open and
Ladies European Tour for the 2008-2010 seasons.
