EPIX Scores Goldwyn Titles

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK: Up to 20 upcoming theatrical releases from Samuel Goldwyn Films have been licensed to the premium movie network EPIX as part of an exclusive output agreement between the two companies.

EPIX is the new premium movie network launching in the fourth quarter backed by Viacom and Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and MGM. As part of the agreement with Samuel Goldwyn Films, up to 20 titles slated for theatrical release in 2010 and 2011 will begin playing across all EPIX platforms, including its linear channel, subscription on demand and epixhd.com services, in 2010. EPIX has lined up carriage on Verizon’s FiOS.

"Goldwyn is among the most respected independent film companies in Hollywood and around the world today," said Mark Greenberg, the president and CEO of EPIX. "This new exclusive output agreement with Goldwyn will further bolster EPIX’s incredible lineup of films from its studio partners at Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM, adding even more depth to what is already one of the strongest film libraries of any premium movie service on television. Movies are what consumers want to watch on television, on demand, on their computers and on their mobile devices. EPIX is the only service available today which will be able to meet that consumer demand—anytime, anywhere and on any platform."

Meyer Gottlieb, the president and COO of Samuel Goldwyn Films, added: "EPIX is developing a brand and an approach that is transforming the way films are viewed by consumers. We chose EPIX because we want to be part of this new approach to deliver our films to consumers in the way they want to see them. This agreement allows Goldwyn to have its films showcased on what will become a unique and terrific premiere pay television service."

Goldwyn’s 2009 slate includes Brothers At War, American Violet, The Merry Gentleman, Management, Cold Souls and Free Style. Movies on the planner for 2010 include The Yellow Handkerchief, with William Hurt and Maria Bellow.
