LOS ANGELES/TORONTO: Production has begun on the new legal drama The Firm, from Entertainment One (eOne) in association with Sony Pictures Television Networks and Paramount Pictures, with Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer and Shaun Majumder of Detroit 1-8-7 signed on as recurring guest stars.

The show is to be simulcast on NBC, Global and AXN in more than 125 territories. The series, based on the 1991 best-selling novel by author John Grisham, is about an attorney who emerges after ten years in hiding after having brought down a law firm that served as a front for the Chicago mob. It stars Josh Lucas (The Lincoln Lawyer, Sweet Home Alabama), Callum Keith Rennie (The Killing, Californication), Molly Parker (Deadwood, Swingtown) and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers, Cape Fear). Helfer will take a recurring role as Alex Clark, and Majumder as Andrew Palmer.

David Straiton, whose credits include House and Fringe, is set to direct the two-hour pilot episode, with production beginning in August. Helen Shaver, director of Judging Amy and Law & Order: SVU, is to co-executive produce and direct multiple episodes. eOne Television has retained the TV and digital/DVD rights for the show outside of AXN markets and is handing distribution of the series worldwide, including the U.S. and Canada.
