Endemol Strengthens its Latin American Business

HILVERSUM,
November 27: Endemol has boosted its business in Latin America with three
recent developments: it increased its stake in Endemol Andino; extended its
output deal with TV Globo in Brazil; and appointed a new creative director for
the Latin American region.

Endemol has increased its stake in the
Colombia-based Endemol Andino, which produces content for broadcasters in
Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, from 51 percent to 85 percent.

Endemol Andino was established in 2005 as a
partnership with RTI, a leading producer of telenovelas, and the international
distributor Tepuy. Endemol Andino has produced local versions of Big Brother
and Deal or No Deal.

In Brazil, Endemol has extended its output
deal with TV Globo. The deal includes local versions of Big Brother,
Strictly Dancing and Fama
(the Brazilian version of Operación Tríunfo.

Endemol has also appointed Martin Kweller as
creative director for Latin America, who retains his position as managing
director of Endemol Argentina. In his new role, Kweller will oversee and help
build Endemol’s content across all of Latin America, in both scripted and
non-scripted genres.

“Martin Kweller’s proven creative and
entrepreneurial track record will be a great asset to our operating companies
in Latin America,” says Tom Barnicoat, the COO of Endemol. “His appointment,
along with our increased stake in Endemol Andino and renewed deal with TV
Globo, leaves us well placed to further grow our business in the region.”

“The Latin American television market is
growing rapidly and competition is becoming more aggressive,” adds Kweller. “I
strongly believe that we have what it takes to consolidate our presence in the
region, building on the established relationships that we have here.”
