Emmy Nominees Announced for News & Current Affairs

NEW YORK: The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has unveiled the nominees for the 2010 news and current affairs categories, with winners to be announced at a ceremony in New York City on September 27.

The nominees represent Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Quatar, Russia and the U.K. In the news category, the nominees are Al Jazeera English News Hour: Gaza Hour (Quatar), Sky News’ Pakistan-Terrors’ Front Line (U.K.), RT Channel’s Extended News Coverage on Obama’s Visit to Russia (Russia) and TV Globo’s Jornal Nacional: Blackout in Brazil (Brazil).

The nominees in the current affairs category are Television Broadcasts Limited’s Tuesday Report: Child Abduction (Hong Kong), October Films for Channel 4 with Dispatches: Pakistan’s Taliban Generation (U.K.), Societe Radio-Canada’s Enquete: The Ultimate Forgiveness (Canada) and Artear-Canal 13’s Telenoche: Glaciers, The First Veto (Argentina).
