Electric Sky Scores Global Sales

BRIGHTON: The British distributor Electric Sky has secured a range of deals with broadcasters across Europe and Australasia, including inking a new agreement on The Battle for Haiti.

Planete Thalassa in France opted for the 12×23-minute third season of Customs, from Favourite Films for Nine Network in Australia. It also picked up The Battle for Haiti, produced for Channel 4 and WGBH by Quicksilver Media. The 48-minute documentary special from BAFTA-winning director Dan Reed had previously been sold to Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Latin America and New Zealand.

SBS in Australia went for the 7×28-minute James Rhodes: Piano Man by Jamie Oliver’s production company, Fresh One Productions, for Sky Arts; the hour-long Looking for Lowry by Foxtrot Films for ITV, which features Ian McKellen; and the 86-minute Guilty Pleasures by Bungalow Town Production for Channel 4, which takes a look at the readers and writers of Mills & Boon romance novels.

The Living Channel in New Zealand has acquired Dream Lives for Sale, an 8×44-minute series from Freeform Productions produced for Sky1. The series has also sold to Sweden and Australia.

Multicanal Iberia SLU in Spain has picked up the 52-minute Klin Wara: Ultimate Papua New Guinea wildlife film by Shark Bay Films as well as Wild Events from Steel Spyda Productions. Television Catalunya opted for the HD series My Cypriot Kitchen by Isis Media for Discovery UK. It is hosted by Tonia Buxton, who visits her favorite places to eat in her homeland of Cyprus.

Trevano Pictures in Ukraine secured season one of Glamour Puds for Inter TV Channel, while season two was licensed to FOX in Italy. Both seasons of the show, produced by The Last Word Productions for Channel 4, have also been licensed to FOX in India.
