Electric Sky Lands Deals Internationally

LONDON: The U.K. distributor Electric Sky has sold almost 400 hours of A Place in the Sun titles internationally, among other program sales.

Sweden’s Viasat took more than 220 hours of A Place in the Sun titles, including A Place in the Sun Hotspots, A Place in the Sun Primetime seasons one to six and A Place in the Sun Home or Away seasons one to five. In Australia, XYZnetworks’ The LifeStyle Channel picked up A Place in the Sun Home or Away seasons two, three and four, and in Belgium A Place in the Sun Home or Away season three has been licensed to VMMa-owned Vitaya. The property series is produced by Freeform Productions for Channel 4 and solely distributed by Electric Sky.

Other deals made by Electric Sky include The History Channel in Iberia picking up Transmission Films’ Children of the Revolution for the WDR/Irish Film Board and Looking for Lowry by Foxtrot Films for ITV. Looking for Lowry is an hour-long documentary featuring Ian McKellen and has also sold to Australia, New Zealand and Israel.

Fat Doctor seasons one, two and three by Electric Sky Productions for Discovery Home & Health has been secured by Chello Zone’s Zone Reality for EMEA. The channel also picked up the documentary special Killer on the Run by UK producer True North. It follows the story of David Bieber, one of America’s Most Wanted criminals who became a fugitive in the U.K. for ten years.

The Living Channel in New Zealand opted for Baking Mad, a ten-part series by Infinite Media that aired on Channel 4 earlier this year. The series features master patissier Eric Lanlard. SBS in Australia bought the Royal Opera House performance title Anna Nicole, a contemporary opera based on the life of the young American Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith that ran earlier this year.
