EastEnders Scores Dedicated YouTube Channel

LONDON, September 15: BBC
Worldwide plans to launch a dedicated channel on YouTube for EastEnders that will host favorite moments from the soap’s
13-year history.

The EastEnders Channel is
the second launch by BBC Worldwide on YouTube for a single program, following
its Top Gear Channel, which debuted in August. The destination will feature classic
moments from the BBC archive, with additional EastEnders-themed content to be added such as other shows
featuring the cast and interviews.

Simon Danker, the director
of digital media for BBC Worldwide, said: “We’re committed to building more
communities on the web around shows like EastEnders that people are really passionate about. We've
done it already with Top Gear
on YouTube and MySpace and now this EastEnders Channel will allow fans to
communicate on a daily basis and watch favorite moments from the soap.”

Patrick Walker, the
director of video partnerships for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for
YouTube, added: “Over the years EastEnders has built up a huge, loyal base of fans who love
the program. This dedicated YouTube channel will enable even more engagement
with this community as well as expose one of the BBC's most popular shows to
new global audiences.”
