Duchovny Makes Return to TV on Showtime

LOS
ANGELES, March 16: Showtime has ordered 12 half-hour episodes of a new,
as-yet-untitled comedy series starring former The X-Files star David Duchovny, for premiere in August.

Set
to begin production in Los Angeles in June, the new series will also be
executive produced by Duchovny. The comedy centers on novelist Hank Moody,
played by Duchovny, who struggles to raise his 13-year-old daughter (Madeleine
Martin), while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha
McElhone). The series was created and executive produced by Tom Kapinos (Dawson's
Creek
).

"This
series furthers the Showtime brand of high-quality, sophisticated, premium
television and will be perfectly at home in the comedy space we've carved out
with Weeds," said Robert
Greenblatt, Showtime’s president of entertainment. "And I'm personally
thrilled to be back in business with David Duchovny, with whom I worked on The
X-Files
. But anyone expecting
Agent Mulder to resurface will be pleasantly surprised to see David create a
character who is deeply flawed yet funny, complicated, and utterly human."
