LONDON: DRG has been awarded exclusive representation rights from Scotland’s STV for all programming from STV Productions and Ginger Productions.

DRG will bring productions from both outfits to the worldwide market under the newly created banner STV International. The 2,000 hour programming catalogue includes the long-running British crime drama Taggart and a range of factual content. The deal also includes a new co-funding and development partnership between SVT and DRG. This part of the agreement will see DRG investing in the co-development of newly created STV and Ginger Productions drama, unscripted and formatted programming ahead of a broadcast commission.

Alan Clements, the director of content at STV, said, “Looking ahead at 2011 and beyond, we’re delighted to announce the creation of the STV International brand and that DRG will be our exclusive representative for international distribution. As a truly independent distributor they have a proven track record for building U.K.-born programming into global brands. It’s that strategy for success that we will be looking to achieve across the coming years with prestigious STV Productions such as Taggart and Walking the Amazon.”

Jeremy Fox, the CEO at DRG, added, “STV is a center of creative excellence in Scotland and we have always admired the teams’ work, especially its dramas such as Taggart. They’ve also created a compelling slate of new programs, which we’re looking forward to help bring to air worldwide. STV International is a great example of a major TV company partnering with a truly independent distributor to create and deliver a globally recognizable business and brand."
