LONDON: Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) magazine talk show The Dr. Oz Show has been commissioned for a local treatment by Zhejiang TV in China.

The Chinese show is being produced by Huaso, a joint venture production company between SPT and China Film Group. Production has started on 31 episodes for the first season, which will go on the air in mid-October.

SPT launches its second talk-based format, The Nate Berkus Show, at MIPCOM.

Kees Abrahams, the president of international production at SPT, said: “SPT is spearheading a new genre of formatted magazine talk shows. The success of The Dr. Oz Show in Russia and the Middle East and the launch of the show in China demonstrate the versatility of this format for adaptation in very different markets around the world. We are also delighted to launch a second talk magazine, The Nate Berkus Show, at this year’s market.”
