Doug Murphy Elevated at Corus

TORONTO: Corus Entertainment has tapped Doug Murphy, who most recently oversaw its portfolio of kids’ networks, as the new president of Corus Television, expanding his remit to include lifestyle and movie services, among other properties.

"Doug is an outstanding executive with a proven track record for building strong teams and great brands," said John Cassaday, the president and CEO of Corus Entertainment. "Since joining Corus he has consistently delivered superior business results. Doug’s predecessor, Paul Robertson, assembled a stellar team and a powerhouse portfolio of brands which will grow and prosper under Doug’s leadership."

The Corus Television portfolio includes YTV, Treehouse, Nickelodeon (Canada), W Network, Cosmopolitan TV, VIVA, W Movies, CMT (Canada), Sundance Channel (Canada), DUSK, Telelatino, Movie Central, Encore Avenue and stakes in TELETOON and TELETOON Retro. Corus Television also operates Nelvana and three local over-the-air television stations, among other assets.

Murphy has been with Corus since 2002. He was most recently executive VP and general manager of Corus Kids and president of Nelvana.
