Distraction Secures New Deals for Scripted Comedy Format

LONDON, May 18:
Distraction has secured new deals in Greece and Spain for its scripted comedy
format Serial Frank, which
launched at MIPTV last month.

Distraction has licensed
the format to PLD Productions in Greece, for a September premiere, and to BocaBoca
in Spain. Negotiations are taking place in Germany, Italy, the U.S. and other
territories.

Nominated in the Roma
Fiction Festival 2007, Serial Frank
is based on writer-director Jean-François Asselin’s award-winning 2003 short, Personal
Distortion
. The first season of
the series premiered in 2006 on Séries + in Canada to critical acclaim and the
second season has just finished airing on the channel. Serial Frank is an innovative scripted comedy format that
follows a seemingly ordinary single guy named Frank whose “inner selves” have
just shown up, uninvited and in the flesh, on his doorstep. As Frank ponders
what to do, his inner thoughts battle around him and he finds himself being
pulled in different directions by a platoon of comic personalities.
