Distraction Completes German Deals

MONTREAL, May 13: Distraction has completed sales on three of its formats—The Next Great Leader, Trade Up and DNA—in the German market.

The Next Great Leader, a political reality format, was picked up by ZDF for a prime-time slot. The show has already been sold into the U.K., Benelux and South Africa, and recently aired its second season in Canada on CBC.

The high-tension game show Trade Up was sold to the IMG Group for Germany. The format was previously sold in the U.K. to Tiger Aspect and in Spain to Zebra Producciones, as well as in the U.S. and Canada.

Distraction closed a deal for another game show, DNA, with Tresor TV. The format was recently picked up by Newline in the U.S. as well.

The sales follow on Distraction recently establishing a Munich office, led by Barbara Vallant as sales executive, to provide both local and trans-European sales services.

Michel Rodrigue, the CEO of Distraction, commented: “The decision to establish a Distraction base in Germany a few months ago is already paying off. Thanks to Barbara’s excellent performance, German producers and broadcasters have greater access to our catalogue.”
