Disney’s High School Musical Draws Asian Viewers

HONG KONG, November 15:
Disney Channel's highly popular TV movie High School Musical has repeated its success in Asian markets,
including the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.

Since its June release the
film has drawn tweens across the Asia-Pacific region delivering the best-ever
results for a Disney Channel original movie in South-East Asia, Australia and
New Zealand. The program’s soundtrack has also reached double-platinum sales in
several territories.

High School Musical has taken the Asia-Pacific region by storm,” says
Akitoshi Nakata, the VP of Buena Vista Music Group for Japan and Asia Pacific.
“It's great to be a part of the show's global success and to add our own unique
and localized version of the song Breaking Free to the momentum.”
