Disney Announces New Asia-Pacific Deals

SINGAPORE, November 28:
Disney-ABC International Television (DAIT) Asia Pacific kicked off the Asia TV
Forum today with new drama and comedy series deals with 13 broadcasters in the
region, along with its first Southeast Asian agreement on The View and Good Morning America.

The View and Good Morning America will make their Southeast Asian premiere on Velvet,
a female-targeted basic cable network recently launched by the ABS-CBN
Broadcasting Corporation subsidiary, Creative Programs Inc. (CPI), which has
also rolled out the sports offering Balls and the male-skewing Maxxx. The
View
will broadcast live, while Good
Morning America
is set to air two
hours after its U.S. live premiere. “We are delighted to be starting this new
relationship with CPI and to be working with them to bring U.S. content faster
to audiences in the Asia Pacific,” said Greg Johnson, the VP of sales at DAIT
Asia Pacific. “Not only are we committed to providing our clients with some of
the best shows on TV, we also look to enhance the relationship that
broadcasters and their audiences have with our programs through earlier
delivery.”

The multi-year,
multi-genre volume deal with CPI also covers the FX title Dirt and Three Moons over Milford, both for Velvet, as well as feature films for
Maxxx, including Seabiscuit and
Miracle
.

DAIT also shored a host of
agreements on new dramas and comedies. Dirty Sexy Money, Reaper and Samantha Who?
have been licensed to seven broadcasters: Seven Network in Australia, TVNZ,
Malaysia’s 8TV, Studio23 in the Philippines, Fiji TV, Channel 5 in Singapore
and STAR World. Private Practice,
meanwhile, went to Seven Network, TVNZ, Studio 23, Channel 5, Fiji TV, STAR
World and Malaysia’s ntv7.
