Discovery Sets Launch Date for Atlas Series

SILVER SPRING, July 26: On October 1, Discovery Communications
will launch its worldwide initiative Discovery Atlas, a five-year project focusing on the culture,
geography and natural phenomena of a range of countries, kicking off with
China.

October 1 sees the world premiere broadcast on the Discovery
Channel of Discovery Atlas: China Revealed.
New episodes will roll out every Sunday, focusing on Italy (October 8), Brazil
(October 15) and Australia (October 22). Each is narrated by a celebrity,
including James Spader for the China special and Russell Crowe for the episode
on Australia. Discovery Channel will broadcast Atlas in more than 170 countries and territories to over
310 million households. The series will also air on Discovery HD channel in
over 7 million households in the U.S., Japan, Austria, Germany, Canada, the
U.K. and Ireland.
