SUMMIT: A four-year broadcast deal signed by Apparent Gravity Media sees Discovery Channel, Discovery World HD and Animal Planet become the official broadcasters of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in Canada through 2015.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is America’s second largest continuously held sporting event, second only to the Kentucky Derby. The event is in its 135th year. The agreement kicks off with the airing of the 2012 show, to be broadcast in HD in prime time over two evenings. Animal Planet will have the first window for the first two years, covering the 2012 and 2013 shows. Discovery World HD takes the premieres in 2014 and 2015. Encore presentations for all four seasons will go out on Discovery Channel.

“We are very pleased to continue our relationship with Discovery Channel, and are excited to be involved in bringing such high caliber programming to Canadian audiences,” said George Krieger, the president of Apparent Gravity Media. “The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has consistently proven to be one of the most popular lifestyle family programming events, attracting significant viewing figures against the most stringent competition and attracting huge advertising support from retail and pet food.”
