Discovery & BBC Align for Landmark Series

SILVER SPRING: Discovery Channel and the BBC are aligning for the co-production of the eight-part series History of the World, which seeks to provide the definitive account of human civilization. 

The program, which uses CGI, dramatic reconstructions and footage from locations on five continents, is set for a 2013 premiere. It will document decisive turning points from 70,000 BC to 2011 AD. Each episode highlights various aspects such as military campaigns, love stories, medical breakthroughs and assassinations. 

History of the World is co-produced by BBC and Discovery Channel. For BBC, Chris Granlund is executive producer and Kathryn Taylor is series producer. For Discovery Channel, Susan Winslow is executive producer.
