DISCOP Istanbul Finds Strong Start with Inaugural Edition

LOS ANGELES/PARIS: The first edition of DISCOP Istanbul drew in 511 delegates, representing 283 companies from 39 countries.

The inaugural event hosted 142 companies over the three-day market, with 32 percent coming from the Greater Middle East and North Africa, 33 percent from Turkey and 35 percent from Central Asia, the Balkans and Caucasus.

Of the attendees, 112 were content sellers, 91 with exhibits. Other participating companies included regional advertisers, media buying agencies and independent producers.

A second DISCOP Istanbul is already schedule, from February 28 to March 1, 2012.

“Despite the current tensions affecting some of the targeted countries,” said Patrick Jucaud, the general manager of Basic Lead, the organizer of DISCOP markets. “A vast majority of our participants reported significant deal activity. These great results underscore the importance of DISCOP’s geographically focused and meetings centric market formula.”
