DISCOP Announces New Conference and Networking Program

LOS ANGELES/PARIS, April 6: DISCOP has announced the
creation of DISCOPRO, a new day-long conference and networking event dedicated
to co-production opportunities in the Central and Eastern European region that
will take place on June 19, the eve of this year’s DISCOP in Budapest.

DISCOP 2007 will run from Wednesday June 20 through Friday
June 22. DISCOPRO is open to all registered DISCOP attendees. The event will
feature panels and seminars on topics related to an in-depth overview of all
the EU, government and privately-backed incentive packages available to
stimulate pan-European co-productions in the Central and Eastern European
region. Sessions will offer expert and timely information on various subsidies,
loans and other incentives funded by the European Union and its affiliated
programs, as well as the impact of the Television Without Frontiers directive
on European co-productions.

Patrick Jucaud, the GM of DISCOP, noted: “With the recent
expansion of the European Union, the proposed ascension of the Balkans to the
EU, a booming CEE-based television industry and the recent revision of the
Television Without Frontiers directive, the number of pan-European
co-production deals involving Central and Eastern Europe will increase
dramatically. There has never been a better time for a conference such as
DISCOPRO and we look forward to expanding the program into an annual event.”
