Director Tony Scott Dead at 68

LOS ANGELES: Tony Scott, the director of such hits as Top Gun, died on Sunday after reportedly jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles County.

"I can confirm that Tony Scott has passed away. The family asks that their privacy is respected at this time," Scott’s spokesman, Simon Halls, said in a statement.

The brother of Ridley Scott, Tony was one part of the production company Scott Free Productions, with TV credits that include The Good Wife, World Without End and The Pillars of the Earth. He left behind two sons and a wife. Reports indicate that he may have been suffering from terminal brain cancer.

The British-born Scott is best known for directing Top Gun. His other credits include The Last Boy Scout, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Prometheus, Man on Fire, Beverly Hills Cop II, True Romance, Crimson Tide and many others.
