SINGAPORE: Among the speakers set for the upcoming Asia Television Forum is Dick de Rijk, the creator of such hits as Deal or No Deal, who will talk about developing original formats with international commercial potential.

de Rijk will spotlight the creative process of taking an idea and developing it into a successful original format that appeals to various cultures. He will break down the makings of a hit reality show, from packaging to promotion to making it relatable to audiences, using his new hit game show You Deserve It as an example.

The Media Leader’s Forum will kick off the two-day conference lineup on December 7. The focus is on the social role of media companies in the issue of climate change. Spotlight sessions on emerging Asian territories and the best of Asian animation are also included in the program.

Another highlight is the gala opening of the Societe Generale Private Banking 1st Rendezvous with French Cinema, a film festival showcasing the best of contemporary French cinema. It will also serve as a business platform, with industry leaders, senior media execs and ATF delegates gathering for an evening of networking.

“ATF is always evolving with market trends and one of our key objectives to enable our delegates to stay at the forefront of the ever-changing media landscape,” said Yeow Hui Leng, the project director of ATF at Reed Exhibitions. This year’s focus on Asia is highly relevant given that the global TV industry is now turning towards Asia and demand for Asian content is growing within the region and internationally.”

“As Asia’s leading content market, we provide a comprehensive platform for international content providers to network with Asian production companies and broadcasters while gaining valuable market insights at dedicated conferences led by notable industry players,” added Yeow.
