TORONTO: EBTV, the newly announced banner under which Brightlight Pictures and Essential Pictures are working together, has selected Diane Boehme as its executive VP of television.

Boehme will be based in a newly established Toronto office. Her remit will focus on building EBTV’s roster of projects and promoting the brand worldwide. Prior to joining EBTV, Boehme led production of the comedy Living In Your Car and the highly anticipated Call Me Fitz, starring Jason Priestley for The Movie Network and Movie Central. Boehme has led the development and production of some of Canada’s most popular shows, in previous roles such as senior director of independent production for CHUM Television and director of original production for Astral Television.

"We are delighted to be working with Diane," said Stephen Hegyes, principal and producer at Brightlight Pictures. "She is that rare combination of deep creative roots and broadcast experience which allows her to recognize what will appeal internationally, then pull all the right pieces together to make the project happen."

"Diane has a remarkable eye for talent and original voices," added Neil Kaplan, the president and COO of Essential Pictures. "Coupled with her keen business sense, Diane is a creative executive who truly understands our complicated industry, both domestically and abroad."

Boehme commented, “I am thrilled to be joining a team with such exceptional talent and depth of experience. It’s exciting to be at the beginning of such a creative, nimble and strong endeavor and I look forward to the tremendous opportunities ahead.”
