DECODE, Scrawl to Co-Develop New Animated Series

CANNES, April 7: DECODE Entertainment
has inked an agreement with Singapore’s Scrawl Studios for a new animated
series, tentatively titled RPG High.

The 52×11-minute series, aimed at 8- to
12-year-olds, will use 2-D animation with 3-D sequences, in a style inspired by
video gaming. The property will center on Baer High,
a school where the students are the children of great and not-so-great
video-game characters. Distribution of the show will be split between the
partners, with Scrawl Studios handling Asian sales and DECODE covering the rest
of the world. The two companies recently
teamed up to co-produce Clang Invasion, a sci-fi comedy series that is launching at
MIPTV, with Hong Kong’s Agogo.

Beth Stevenson, the executive VP of production and
development for DECODE, said: “We’re delighted to be collaborating again with
our friends at Scrawl Studios after our successful partnership with Clang
Invasion
. RPG
High
harnesses
many distinctive video-gaming characters and styles that are universally loved
by kids, and places them with comedy at the core of this innovative new show.”
