David Simon Joins Advisory Board of The Box

LOS ANGELES: David Simon, an industry veteran who has held senior-level executive roles at DreamWorks Animation, Fox Television Station Group and Disney, has been named to the advisory board of Israeli content creation and new-media outfit The Box.

Simon, who is based in Los Angeles, will provide strategic consultation to the company in the areas of content for broadcast entertainment and advertising. The Box creates and produces cross-platform original content for broadcast and advertising, working with leading global brands and media entities, including Nike, Coca Cola, Orange and Disney. The company recently launched CelebZ, a 30-minute prime-time animated series that allows viewers to create 25 percent of the show’s content using The Box’s proprietary interactive content-creation platform.

Having hands-on experience in development, production, marketing and distribution, Simon previously served as VP of programming and production for the Fox Television Station Group. He also set up and ran Disney’s first international television production company in London for 10 years, and supervised the launch of the first international Disney Channels, Super RTL in Germany and GMTV in the U.K. Simon returned to the U.S. to head DreamWorks Television Animation Studio. He later formed Simon Bros. Media to identify and develop content.

"David Simon is a man of vision whose keen business sense transcends traditional and emerging media," said Yaki Gani, the VP of The Box. "We are fortunate to have David join us at The Box as we aggressively increase our activity, partnerships and content creation within the American market."
