Darlow Smithson to Produce Doc on Music Producer for Channel 4

LONDON, June 14: Darlow Smithson Productions has been
commissioned to produce for Channel 4 The Real Phil Spector, a one-hour documentary about the legendary pop
music producer who is on trial for murder.

Set against the backdrop of Spector’s trial for the murder
of actress Lana Clarkson, the documentary will deliver a history of Spector’s
bizarre life—from his humble beginnings in the Bronx to the creation of
his signature “Wall of Sound” and eventual descent into distrust and paranoia.
The producers have secured exclusive access to family members, friends, artists
and employees who have been witness to the full force of Spector’s volcanic and
unpredictable temper. The documentary is directed by Jeremy Marre and executive
produced by Julian Ware, the executive producer of Darlow Smithson Productions.

Ware commented: “Spector revolutionized pop music with his
astonishing production techniques, but revelations about his private life have
shocked the world. Darlow Smithson will use all its remarkable storytelling
skills to discover how the life of this legendary music icon went so tragically
wrong. Spector’s story is one of genius gone horribly awry.”
