Da Vinci Heads Back into Production

VANCOUVER, February 12: Production has begun in Vancouver
for The Quality of Life—A Dominic Da Vinci Movie, a two-hour TV movie based on the Canadian drama series
Da Vinci’s City Hall that is
expected to premiere in Canada on CBC this fall and on Showcase in 2008.

The movie picks up where Da
Vinci’s City Hall
left off. Da
Vinci’s City Hall
was a 13-episode spin-off
of Da Vinci’s Inquest, the first
series featuring the character of former coroner-turned-mayor Dominic Da Vinci.

Directed by John Fawcett,
The Quality of Life
once again teams up
writer/creator Chris Haddock with Alan DiFiore and Nicholas Campbell, who will
reprise his role as Dominic Da Vinci. The television movie will also star
fellow Da Vinci’s City Hall alum
Ben Ratner and Patrick Gallagher. In The Quality of Life, Da Vinci tries to solve a scandalous murder that
occurs during a conference on crime he hosts for mayors from across the
country. The movie will be distributed worldwide by Vancouver-based Thunderbird
Films.

"Dominic Da Vinci has
become a true Canadian icon, and we jumped at the chance to bring him back to
television audiences,” said Kirstine Layfield, the executive director of network
programming at CBC-TV. “We are thrilled with the screenplay and look forward to
its broadcast premiere.”

The Da Vinci franchise has also had tremendous success in
the U.S. since its debut in 2005. Cleared in 98 percent of the country by
Program Partners, the series reaches over 4 million viewers a week.
