Current TV Selects Doc Pitches at Edinburgh

LONDON, October 3: The Interactive Emmy-winning
youth-targeted network Current TV, which launched in the U.K. earlier this
year, has selected the eight winners of its first documentary pitching session
held at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

All eight winning “pods,” which are short-form, non-fiction
programs that average 3- to 8-minutes and comprise the network’s schedule, have
now gone into production and will be broadcast on Current TV before the end of
the year.

These include Tom Janson’s Is University Worth It?, a current affairs documentary that meets the young
adults turning their backs on university, and Bailout Films’ The
Paper
, an observational film about a
student newspaper that seems to struggle to get each and every issue out to its
readers.
