Cuppa Coffee’s Nerdland Scores Deal with The Detour on TELETOON

TORONTO, September 12:
Cuppa Coffee’s stop-motion comedy series Nerdland is the first production to be green-lit by The
Detour on the TELETOON Pilot Project, which invites Canadian producers to
submit pilot proposals for broadcast consideration on The Detour teen block.

Nerdland features the misanthropic adventures of a group of
nerds as they survive in a nerd-unfriendly society. The 22-minute, stop-motion
comedy is the first project to be green-lit by the Pilot Project.

To be considered for The
Detour on TELETOON Pilot Project, producers must first complete an electronic
submission sheet available online at corp.teletoon.com. Producers who are
selected for phase two of development will then be required to send a script, a
mini-series bible and preliminary designs, as well as a proposed delivery
schedule and production budget, suggested to be around C$200,000. Producers
should explain how the pilot will develop into a series for The Detour, the
network’s popular teen/adult-oriented programming block, and ways in which the
series could be expanded to multiple platforms. Green-lit pilots will be
financed through TELETOON and the Canadian Television Fund where eligible.

Deadline for submissions
is December 31, and selected pilots will air on The Detour on TELETOON
beginning fall 2008.
