CTV Taps Phil King to Lead Sports, Programming

TORONTO: Phil King has been named president of sports and executive VP of programming at CTV.

As president of sports, King will report to Ivan Fecan, the president and CEO of CTVglobemedia and CEO of CTV. He will also join CTV’s senior management committee. All of CTV’s sports interests will report through King. Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium though will report report through King to Fecan. As executive VP of programming, King reports to Susanne Boyce, the president of creative, content and channels at CTV. King will serve as Boyce’s second in command. King was formerly the president of TSN, having joined in 1989.

Rick Brace will realign his focus and concentrate exclusively on the company’s revenue as president of revenue and business planning. Brace will support King through the transition. Brace remains chairman of the board of CTV Specialty Television and will stay involved with the Olympic Games as a senior advisor.

"Phil has built an amazing organization at TSN and has proven himself as a first-rate leader," said Fecan.
