CTV Extends Rights to Juno Awards

TORONTO: CTV has extended its partnership with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) for The Juno Awards, keeping the annual music awards show on the Canadian broadcaster through 2016.

CTV has been airing the Canadian music awards, now in their 40th year, for a decade. This year’s edition aired last night. “We are privileged to have embarked on an incredible journey with CARAS over the past ten years,” said Susanne Boyce, president of creative, content and channels. “We are proud to have shone a spotlight on Canadian music through our programming initiatives, which this year has grown to an incredible 90 hours of coverage.”

“The renewal of our partnership with CARAS solidifies CTV’s commitment to showcasing the best and brightest musical talent this country has to offer,” added Phil King, the president of sports and executive VP of programming. “We look forward to working with CARAS to deliver innovative and engaging broadcasts of The Juno Awards in the years to come.”

Melanie Berry, president and CEO of CARAS/The Juno Awards, noted, “One of the most significant contributions to the Juno Awards’ branding effort was the decision to join forces with CTV, and bring music directly to fans across Canada. Since taking the show on the road in 2002, we’ve been able to share the live Juno-experience and celebration with fans in nine different cities, and we’re thrilled to continue this Great Canadian Roadshow with CTV and Canadian music fans for years to come!”
