Competition Bureau Clears CHUM Acquisition

TORONTO, March 5: Canada’s Competition Bureau has ruled that
it will not challenge CTVglobemedia’s (CTVgm) acquisition of CHUM Limited.

The $1.5-billion deal announced in July by
CTVglobemedia—known as Bell Globemedia until its January 1
rebranding—is still pending approval by the Canadian Radio-television and
Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). CTVgm's application for such approval was
made public yesterday by the CRTC, which also announced that a public hearing
to review the application will commence on April 30.
