NEW YORK: Cineflix Studios, the recently launched scripted division of Cineflix, has optioned It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me, a pilot script based on a book by Ariel Leve from her popular weekly London Sunday Times Magazine column.

The single-camera half-hour comedy is set in New York, and explores life’s absurdities viewed through the eyes of Cassandra, a late-30 single girl trying to figure out how to make the best of her life after a great career was interrupted and it’s clear "Mr. Big" isn’t coming to the rescue. Cineflix will be taking the project out to U.S. broadcasters this summer. Leve wrote a pilot script based on the book. Chris Keyser (Party of Five, Lone Star) is attached to consult. The deal was brokered by Creative Artists Agency, Dan Halsted/Management and Rob Weisbach of Rob Weisbach Creative Management.

“I was immediately drawn to Ariel’s hilarious and unique voice that tells the honest story about what it’s like to be a single woman over 35, who is not afraid to tell it like it is,” said Cineflix Studios’ president, Christina Wayne. “I love the character of Cassandra, who says all the things you think but might never say out loud. When Cassandra does say them, they are so true; you connect to her character on a very visceral level.”
