Cineflix Strikes U.S. and European Deals for Original Productions

LONDON, March 22: Cineflix
International has licensed three of its in-house productions for broadcast into
Europe and the U.S., including its first-ever deal with Germany’s Super RTL for
the science series ExperiMental.

The 20×30-minute ExperiMental
has also been licensed to Sweden’s TV4 and
Netherlands Public Broadcasting. The program looks at all branches of science
in an approachable way, using oddball experiments to show how science is a part
of our everyday lives.

In addition, the 15×30-minute
series Urban Legends has been sold to A&E
in the U.S., Seven Network in Australia, Five in the U.K., New Zealand’s TV3,
Netherlands Public Broadcasting and TV6 in Sweden. It is set to air in the U.K.
next month on FX. The series is the first Cineflix production produced for
cross-platform distribution with specific content available for mobile and
IPTV. It revolves around three incredible stories, of which only one is
actually true, but all three are presented as genuine documentary reports.

The 6×60-minute Final 24, which began airing on Sky One in the U.K. earlier
this month, has been sold to A&E in the U.S., DMAX in Germany and Spain’s
Pretesa. The program is a documentary series that unlocks the hidden secrets,
psychological flaws and bizarre events that resulted in the tragic deaths of
six global icons. Each episode maps out the final 24 hours of a different
famous person’s life.

Paul Heaney, the MD of Cineflix
International, commented: “The success
of shows like these demonstrates that the market is demanding more hybrid
factual programming, with an accent on entertainment. We’re responding to this
demand and keeping all of our producers both in house and third party in touch
with what the buyers are telling us.”
