Cineflix Secures Spanish Sales

LONDON: Cineflix International has sold 150 hours of programming into Spain in its largest volume deal in the territory in the company’s seven-year history.

TV3 Catalunya went for more than 60 hours and eight shows. This includes the first four seasons of Huge Moves, the two-part special The Blasters and the historical documentaries Ten Days to Victory and Italian Fascism In Colour. TV3 also picked up the factual-entertainment program Zoo Tales and science offering ExperiMental.

Euskal Telebista acquired the technology series Ultimates, as well as Cooler Facts. Chello Multicanal’s Canal Decasa took on Colin & Justin’s Home Heist and World’s Greenest Homes. Two seasons of Kim’s Rude Awakenings and the first season of Birth Days are also set for the channel. For its Odisea channel Chello Multicanal went for Human Prey and Animals at Work.

Sandra Piha, the head of sales for Spain at Cineflix International, said: "I think it’s fair to say that it’s notoriously difficult to sell specialist factual and factual entertainment into Spain, as they have a strong history of local adaptations, sport and movies. These deals show how the range and depth of subjects in our catalogue have a particular attraction to the richly diverse autonomous regions and audiences within Spain."
