LONDON: Five and Fiver have picked up the terrestrial and digital TV rights, respectively, for the kids’ series K9 from Park Entertainment.

Bob Baker and Dave Martin created the original character of K9 the robot dog for the 1978 Doctor Who series. The "old" K9 continues to play a part in the current Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures. The K9 series features a mix of live action with CG and special effects. The show pits K9 and his teenage friends against a number of human and alien enemies.

Jeff Ford of Five commented: "I am delighted to have acquired K9 for Five and Fiver. Centered on one of television’s greatest and most iconic sci-fi characters, it’s fun, escapist entertainment for all the family with a quality team of writers and producers bringing it life."

Jim Howell of Park Entertainment added: "The websites confirm that kids love the new hovering, flying and talkative K9 and his teenage buddies. It will be great to work with the talented team at Five to introduce K9 to a wide audience."
